Cookies on a Stick


6 Cups Flour
3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
2 Cups Butter
2 Cups Sugar
3 Eggs
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 Teaspoon Salt


Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients and add to butter mixture. Mix well. Chill for 1 to 2 hours.

Roll to desired thickness ( 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick ). Cut desired shapes. Place on parchment lined cookie sheet with bottom of each cookie facing out. (This enables you to insert stick easily).

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes (until just beginning to turn brown around the edges). IMMEDIATELY upon removing cookies from the oven, carefully insert a stick into each cookie. When the cookies cool and contract, the stick will have a firm grip. Leave cookies on baking sheet for five minutes. Then remove to cool.


Creamy Frosting
Cookies may be decorated with creamy frosting or ready to use cookie icing. Royal icing may also be used but lacks flavor.


4 Cups Powdered Sugar
5 Tablespoons Half & Half
1 Teaspoon Vanilla or Almond Extract


Beat until smooth - Adjust consistency by adding more Half & Half or powdered sugar.
